The Fisher Brothers Institute

The Fisher Brothers Institute for Air and Space Strategic Studies was established by the Israel Air Force Association, and unites former Air Force personnel for the purpose of developing public discussion in the State of Israel, in the fields of aviation and space.

The Fisher Institute aspires to be a leading center for the interdisciplinary study and discussion of issues related to air and space in general policy, national security, international affairs and advanced technology.

The Institute enables open and creative thinking and discussion on strategic subjects, both commercial and military.

The Institute investigates the doctrines of operation, the quality and safety of aviation and directions of relevant technological development with the goal of assisting the State of Israel in becoming a leader and contributor at an international level in these fields.

The Institute works to strengthen Israel's strategic and defense policies through research that identifies and promotes solutions to military and civil needs by using air and space advanced technologies.

The goal of the Institute is to raise awareness among those in defense, civilian aviation and space industries to better adapt their products to present and future requirements. Therefore most of the Institute's domestic and international conferences as well as its publications and studies are open to the public.

The international and local media are recipients of the Institute’s proceedings and are invited to cover its public forums. The Institute's research aims to generate new knowledge on how to confront military and civil challenges by using air and space power.

The Institute believes that it is very important to bring Israeli youth closer to the air and space related subjects which lead technological advancement in today’s progressive world. Seminars for youth, workshops for these young people at the Air Force Center, lectures in schools by members of the Institute, the inclusion of youngsters in conducting research, seminar papers and various work connected with their curriculum – all of these will help to bring youth closer to issues relating to aviation and space, and will raise the level of science and technology in Israel.

The long term aims of the Institute are to include Jewish youth from around the world into its programs. The Institute employs different methodologies: research, public policy analyses and advocacy. Since its establishment, the Institute has created 4 main centers of study: The Center for Space and Advanced Technology The Aerospace Medical Research Center The Aviation Safety and Security Center The Asymmetric Warfare Center
